The White Cart Water

The White Cart flows from the East Renfrewshire hills through Glasgow at Cathcart, Pollokshaws and Crookston. It joins the Black Cart Water at Paisley and then flows into the Clyde opposite Clydebank. If forms a feature in Linn Park and Pollok Park and it also used to power several mills, including the paper mill at Holmwood House. Over the years it has regularly flooded, causing significant damage to houses and businesses along its banks. A major flood prevention scheme was started in 2006.
